Huge Cannabis Grow Discovered in Broughton Police Raid

Police have uncovered and dismantled a suspected cannabis farm in Salford following a targeted raid by neighbourhood officers.

The operation was carried out on Sunday, 12 April, when officers from the Salford North Neighbourhood Team, covering the Broughton area, executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act. The warrant followed intelligence suggesting a property was being used for the large-scale cultivation of cannabis.

Inside, officers discovered a substantial number of cannabis plants, believed to be close to full maturity and estimated to weigh more than 50kg in total. The plants were seized and destroyed at the scene, along with specialist equipment used to grow and maintain the crop.

Police say the find highlights ongoing efforts to tackle drug production and associated criminal activity in local communities. Cannabis farms are often linked to wider organised crime and can pose serious risks, including fire hazards due to unsafe electrical setups.

Officers are now appealing to the public for information about suspected cannabis cultivation. Residents are urged to report concerns by calling 101 or using the LiveChat service via Greater Manchester Police’s website.

Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward as enquiries continue.
