Residents across Salford are being invited to show their support for serving personnel, veterans and military families as the city prepares to host its Armed Forces Day celebrations later this summer.

Organised by Salford City Council, the main Armed Forces Day event will take place on Saturday 27 June 2026, beginning with a parade at 10.30am from Dukes Drive Car Park in Monton, Eccles. The parade will travel through the area before concluding at Winton Park on Dover Street, where a family fun day will continue throughout the afternoon.

The celebrations will feature live entertainment, children’s activities, community stalls, military-themed displays and opportunities for residents to meet local veterans’ organisations and cadet groups. Organisers say the event is designed to honour the contribution and sacrifice made by members of the Armed Forces community, both past and present.

Families attending can expect a range of attractions including children’s rides, face painting, entertainment on stage and activities aimed at all ages, helping create a community-focused celebration in the heart of Eccles.

The Armed Forces Day celebrations come ahead of another important date in the city’s calendar later in the year. On Remembrance Sunday, November 8th, Salford Media will lay a Community Wreath at the Eccles Cenotaph on behalf of the people of the town, recognising the growing numbers of residents who continue to attend the annual remembrance services each year.

This year’s wreath is being commissioned thanks to fundraising support from David Hill of Leaf Bean Pod Cafe, helping ensure the community tribute.

Armed Forces Day is observed nationally across the UK each June and recognises the work of serving troops, reservists, veterans, cadets and military families. Salford’s annual event has become one of the city’s key community commemorations, regularly attracting residents from across the borough.

As always we will be live streaming the event for those who physically can not make it.
