The city of Salford will commemorate Armed Forces Week by hosting a number of events including a flag raising ceremony on Monday 22 June 2026 and a community parade and Family Fun Day on Saturday 27 June 2026.
Armed Forces Week is an annual event. Towns and cities across the country host events to celebrate the work of service personnel, reservists, veterans, cadets and service families and friends.
This year, Salford is also hosting the Royal Naval Association’s (RNA) National Conference Weekend from Friday 12 June to Sunday 14 June. To celebrate, members of Salford’s RNA branch and veterans gathered at Salford Civic Centre on Tuesday 2 June and were joined by Salford’s Ceremonial Mayor Councillor Robin Garrido, Salford City Mayor Paul Dennett, Salford City Council’s Chief Executive Stephen Young and other elected members as the RNA flag was raised at the Civic Centre.
The RNA National Conference Weekend will conclude with a Drumhead Service March which is open to the public. The march will include veterans, service personnel, dignitaries and local residents and will take place at the waterfront at MediaCity adjacent to Dock 10, The Quays, M50 2NT on Sunday 14 June at 10am.
Salford residents are being encouraged to join the commemorative events and come together to pay tribute to our service personnel during Salford’s very own centenary year.
Salford’s Armed Forces Day Parade which will take place on Saturday 27 June will begin at Dukes Drive Car Park, Monton at 10.30am, finishing at Winton Park, on Dover Street, where the family fun day will commence.
There will be fun activities including small children’s rides, face painting, a climbing wall, magician and lots of other great entertainment.

Service personnel, veterans and their families will all take part in the parade and will be joined by Salford’s Reservists and Cadet Units, Salford’s Ceremonial Mayor Councillor Robin Garrido and Salford City Mayor Paul Dennett.
Salford’s Ceremonial Mayor Councillor Robin Garrido, said: “Armed Forces Week gives communities across Salford the opportunity to come together and honour our Armed Forces, both past and present. It is a meaningful time to show our gratitude and support for the Armed Forces community, and to recognise the enormous sacrifices and contributions made in service of our country.”

Tributes to our Armed Forces will be spread across Salford including town hall banners displayed later this month on Salford Civic Centre in Swinton to show support for our Armed Forces community.
Salford is also hosting a flag raising ceremony for Armed Forces Week on Monday 22 June 2026 at 10.30am. The event will take place on the front steps of Salford Civic Centre.
Salford City Mayor Paul Dennett added: “Our Armed Forces remain firmly in our thoughts, and I want to express my sincere thanks to them and their families for all they do to keep our country safe. I am proud to stand with our Armed Forces community and the residents of our great city, joining people across the country in a shared moment of remembrance and appreciation.”
