Police have seized an electric bike after officers spotted it being ridden dangerously through the streets of Little Hulton.
The incident took place during an evening patrol by the Little Hulton neighbourhood policing team, who say they are continuing efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour across Little Hulton, Walkden and Worsley.
Officers reported seeing the electric vehicle being ridden erratically on both roads and pavements, weaving in and out of traffic and putting pedestrians and other road users at risk. The bike was stopped and subsequently seized.
Police say the use of electric and off-road bikes has become a growing concern in the area, with many residents raising repeated complaints about nuisance riding and safety risks.
According to officers, there is also a wider link between the use of such bikes and criminal activity, including theft, robbery and criminal damage.
A spokesperson for the neighbourhood team said residents have made it clear they want action taken against those using bikes irresponsibly, describing the issue as making “lives a misery” for people in the community.
Police are now urging members of the public to come forward with information about where bikes may be stored or who may be using them. Information can be reported anonymously via Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
