A murder investigation has been launched after an Irlam man died following a brutal early-hours attack in Salford.

Ben Wright was found seriously injured outside a pub on Liverpool Road in Irlam in the early hours of Sunday morning. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and he was taken to hospital, but tragically he later died despite doctors’ best efforts.

His death which has left a community heart broken is now being treated as murder, with detectives launching a full-scale investigation into what happened.

Police have confirmed three suspects all in their 20’s were arrested for section 18 assault in connection with the incident but have since been released on police bail as enquiries continue.

The police scene has now been stood down, but officers are continuing to appeal for help from the public as enquiries progress.
