Bolton Cares has signalled its long-term commitment to providing high quality social care services in Salford with the opening of a new office in Walkden town centre.

Bolton Cares subsidiary Salford Cares will operate from the new office at Ellesmere Shopping Centre, which officially opened this week. The office will also be home to Bolton Cares’ new staff training and development facility.

The new office underlines Bolton Cares’ long-term commitment to Salford and to working in partnership with Salford City Council to expand services locally and deliver positive outcomes for the people it supports.

The opening follows a recent independent inspection of Salford Cares services by Salford City Council, which praised the quality of support being delivered across supported living services in the city.

Rhian Stone, Chief Executive of Bolton Cares, said: “The opening of our new office in Walkden marks the beginning of an exciting next chapter for Salford Cares.

“In recent years, we have worked hard to build our presence in Salford and establish ourselves as a trusted provider of care services for the local council.

“Our supported living services consistently deliver positive outcomes for the people we support. This new office will allow us to further strengthen existing services and to plan for growth into new areas over the coming years.

“It demonstrates that we are here for the long-term in Salford, reflects the strength of our partnership with Salford City Council, and shows what can be achieved by a company like Bolton Cares.”

Salford Cares has delivered 24-7 supported living services, as well as outreach services, on behalf of Salford City Council since 2019. The organisation now supports more than 50 people across the city and employs over 100 staff locally.

People with a wide range of support needs, including physical disabilities, learning disabilities, neurodivergent conditions and mental health needs, receive personalised, high-quality support from Salford Cares teams.

Supported living accommodation is provided by local social housing companies, with care and support delivered by Salford Cares, while outreach services are delivered in people’s own homes.

A recent PAMMS inspection and audit carried out by Salford City Council gave Salford Cares an overall good rating, with several areas of practice rated excellent. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has also rated our supported living services in Salford as good.

Jillian Lockett, Head of Service for Supported Living at Bolton Cares, said: “Our new office firmly bases us within the local community in Walkden and gives us a stronger, visible presence in the areas we serve.

“The teams based here will provide vital back-office support to our frontline staff, helping them to continue delivering high quality care now and in the future.

“It is our ambition to grow the service further over the coming years, both in frontline roles and in support functions, and this office provides the foundation for our next stage of delivery and development in Salford.”

Salford Cares is part of the Bolton Cares Group of companies. Bolton Cares is a local authority owned company (LATCO) owned by Bolton Council, with any profits reinvested into services, staff and communities.
