Over 2,000 dedicated Morrissey fans descended on Salford Lads Clubs over the weekend to both purchase merchandise from the Salford Lads Club stall and Morrissey’s own official merchandise stall, MPORIUM, followed by the obligatory photo outside the Club.
Most fans we spoke to had been to the Morrissey show at The Coop Arena the night before and were killing two birds with one stone, it has to said they are devoted, one chap had seen Morrissey over times and travelled the world seeing him, and one husband and wife were spending their retirement pension travelling the world to see him!
This is a massive financial bonus for the Lads Club as the MPORIUM pop up stall was giving a share of their profits to them plus their own merchandise stall was doing healthy business.
I got the impression that the Morrissey fans, who were all perfectly behaved and impeccabily dressed, were almost a family, who knew each other from their travels following Mozza..
I am a Morrissey and Smiths fan but I would baulk at paying £450 for a signed copy of a 12″ signed copy of Still Ill, but there were many who were, all in all a great morning out and yes, Every Day is Like Sunday.. ( I’ll get my towel..)
