Man arrested after disturbance near Salford canal

Police were called to a disturbance in the early hours of Thursday morning (April 30) on Worrall Street, close to the Manchester Ship Canal in Salford.

Emergency services attended the scene shortly after the incident was reported, with multiple police vehicles seen in the area and blue lights visible along the street. The disturbance is understood to have taken place near the water.

A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm. He remains in custody while detectives continue their enquiries.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers were called to a disturbance along the canal on Worrall Street.

“A man aged 29 has been arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm. He remains in custody for further questioning.”

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
