Dedicated Police Community Support Officers (PCSO’s) in Irlam and Cadishead have always had great respect and support for the Irlam and Cadishead RBL Poppy Appeal and Parade of Remembrance.

Each year not only helping to police the fantastic Poppy Appeal Parade in Irlam and Cadishead, but each year also volunteering to clean up the Irlam and Cadishead War Memorial in Prince’s Park.

PCSO Mark Hutton and PCSO Mark Fitzgerald teamed up this week with the Irlam Primary School based Junior PCSO’s to clean and clear the Irlam and Cadishead War Memorial in preparation for Armed Forces Day.

The Junior PCSO’s Leo, Henry, Georgia and Heva were Joined by Teacher Sharon Pierce, and they all get stuck in and cleaned all the weeds and shrubbery from around the Cenotaph and picked up all of the Litter after comments were made about how unsightly the area had become.

The much-loved war memorial that means so much to so many in Irlam and Cadishead was left looking tidy and presentable ready for the commemorations later in the year. Salford Council have also been contacted with a view to having the War Memorial re-pointed in time for the November Commemorations. Lest We Forget…

Irlam and Cadishead Poppy Appeal Organiser Bill McLaughlin said, “PCSO’s Mark and Mark have for many a year, been regular supporters of the Irlam and Cadishead Poppy Appeal and Parade. For the last few years, they have done a great job of getting the war memorial cleaned up and tidy. Great to see the Junior PCSO’s joining in and doing a great service for our community.”
