Motorists travelling through Salford are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys as several major roadworks schemes continue across the city.
A number of key routes are currently affected by temporary traffic lights, lane restrictions and long-term traffic management measures, with some projects expected to remain in place well into 2027.
The works are being carried out for a variety of reasons, including utility upgrades, highway maintenance and wider infrastructure improvements. While such projects are often necessary to keep roads and services in good condition, they can also lead to delays and congestion for drivers.
Among the most significant ongoing schemes is work on A34 New Bailey Street, where roadworks and a contraflow system remain in operation near Gore Street. The restrictions are currently scheduled to remain in place until May 2027.
Meanwhile, drivers using A5066 Ordsall Lane near Salford Quays are also facing disruption due to roadworks and temporary traffic lights at Taylorson Street South. Those measures are expected to continue until January 2027.
Elsewhere, temporary traffic lights are in operation on A572 Worsley Road in Swinton between Lyon Street and Daccamill Drive due to roadworks. The restrictions are due to remain in place until 5pm on Friday, June 5.
Further disruption is affecting A6 Salford Road near Nicholas Hill, where electricity works have led to temporary traffic lights between Manchester Road West and Bridgewater Avenue. Those works are expected to continue until July 17.
Residents and commuters are being encouraged to plan ahead and check travel information before setting off, particularly during peak periods when delays are likely to be at their worst.
