Dirty Old Town to Open WeasteFest 2026 as Salford Celebrates Its Centenary

Salford band ‘Dirty Old Town’ has been announced as the opening act for one of the area’s biggest community music events of the year.

Dirty Old Town will take to the stage first at WeasteFest 2026, kicking off a day of live music as part of Salford’s 100-year centenary celebrations.

The band comprises of local artist, music maker and Salford Lad, Tony Easom, alongside Ex Armed Forces Member – Graham E Walker and well known squeeze box and master of anything musical – Bernard Cromarty, but most importantly, just like the guy on the right of the photo , YOU, as if YOU can come along, can whistle the tunes, sing the songs then YOU are part of the band too. Tony says it’s about bringing people together to make music and have a good time doing so.

Organisers say the band, known for their strong local roots and distinctive sound inspired by the spirit of Salford, are the perfect choice to launch the festival in “true local style”. Festival-goers can expect a lively set packed with feel-good energy and sing-along favourites to get the crowd going from the very start.

WeasteFest is set to be more than just a music event, with the day bringing together residents and visitors alike to celebrate community, culture and city pride as we celebrate 100-years as a City.

The festival will also support a good cause, raising funds for Salford Loaves and Fishes, a truly amazing charity that works to help vulnerable and homeless people across the city.

The event will take place on Saturday, 8 August 2026 at Weaste & Seedley Social Club on Weaste Lane, with more acts expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Organisers are encouraging people to save the date, promising an “unforgettable day of live music” as part of the wider Salford 100 celebrations.

And of course, we will be there to capture all the fun on camera.

Further announcements, including additional artists, are due soon.
