Police are appealing for witnesses after a bus driver was assaulted late at night outside Salford Shopping Centre.

The incident took place at around 10:30pm on Tuesday 14 April, when a passenger on a number 35 bus became involved in a confrontation with the driver. The passenger had reportedly asked to be let off on a main road, but the driver refused to stop due to safety and traffic regulations.

A short time later, when the bus came to a stop, the passenger approached the driver and questioned why he had not been allowed off earlier. The situation escalated, and the passenger assaulted the driver, leaving him with a cut and bruising to the eye.

Officers are now looking to speak to a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting crime reference number CRI/06FF/0009203/26.
