Breaking the Taboo: Death Café Comes to Eccles Library This Friday

Residents across Salford are being invited to take part in an open and thought-provoking conversation about one of life’s most universal topics, as a Death Café comes to Eccles Library from 1:30pm until 3:30pm this Friday 27th March, with following session on the last Friday of each month.

The upcoming session offers a relaxed and informal space for people to come together over a brew to talk about death, dying and the end of life – often seen as taboo subjects that are often avoided in everyday conversation.

Death Cafés are part of a growing movement aimed at increasing awareness of death to help people make the most of their lives. Rather than being a grief counselling or support group, the sessions are designed to be open discussions with no set agenda, giving attendees the freedom to share thoughts, experiences and questions in a supportive environment. Surprisingly for such a sombre subject, you will also have a laugh too.

Death Coach and Funeral Celebrant – Caroline Jones, has organised the events and says that they are open to anyone, regardless of age or background, and encourages respectful, confidential conversation. Whether people are curious about the concept, have experienced loss, or simply want to explore the topic in a safe setting, all are welcome.

Events like this have been growing in popularity across the UK in recent years, reflecting a shift towards more open conversations around death and bereavement.

The meeting will take place at Eccles Library, with residents encouraged to attend and take part in what organisers describe as “a conversation that matters to everyone.”
