A motorcyclist has died following a serious collision in Worsley, prompting an appeal for witnesses from police.

Emergency services were called to the junction of East Lancashire Road and Old Clough Lane at around 2pm on Friday (1 May) after reports of a crash involving a car and a motorbike.

The rider, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed, and specially trained officers are supporting them at this difficult time.

Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is now working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have captured footage on CCTV, dashcam, or a mobile device, to come forward.

A GMP spokesperson said enquiries are ongoing and any information, no matter how small, could prove vital to the investigation.
