First Look: Inside The Ilirian’s New Look and Expanded Greek-Italian Menu in Eccles

A popular Eccles restaurant is getting ready to welcome diners back through its doors after a fresh new look — and there’s plenty to tempt both regulars and first-time visitors.

The Ilirian Greek Restaurant has undergone refurbishment work and, by all accounts, the results are impressive. Owner Ervis Zenelcanaj says the venue has officially reopened today (1st May), returning with its usual opening hours but with an expanded offering that blends the best of Greek and Italian cuisine.

The updated menu keeps its traditional Mediterranean roots while introducing a range of new Italian-inspired dishes. Classic favourites like souvlaki and mixed grills sit alongside rich Italian-style mains and fresh seafood, giving diners a wide range of choice.

A quick look at the menu shows the kind of value and variety on offer. Chicken or pork souvlaki is priced at £13.50, served with chips, pitta bread and salad. Creamy chicken dishes such as pollo al funghi come in at £16.50, while the pollo spinach and dolcelatte is listed at £17.00. For something more substantial, a ribeye steak or cotoletta Milanese are both priced at £24.99.

Those dining as a pair might be drawn to the mixed grill for two at £41.50, which includes lamb chops, chicken and pork souvlaki, Greek sausage, salad, pitta and a choice of sauces. Meanwhile, lamb chops on their own are available for £16.50 — a solid choice for grill lovers.

Seafood options are also featured, including dishes like sea bass cooked in white wine and lemon, and oven-baked salmon with spinach cream and brandy sauce, adding to the Mediterranean feel of the menu.

There’s also a children’s menu available, making it an easy option for families looking for somewhere local to eat.

With a refreshed interior, a broader menu, and the same welcoming atmosphere, the reopening looks set to draw a crowd.
