Barton’s Leaf Bean Pod Café Serves Up £900 Boost for Community Groups

It’s not the first time David Hill, of Leaf Bean Pod Cafe in Barton has been involved in fundraising for the local community, this time he has handed over an impressive £850 raised from the sale of his specially created “Salford 100” pies. The initiative was designed to celebrate the cities centenary and make a few quid to support local, deserving causes, with every pie sold contributing to the growing total.

Speaking after the handover, Tony described the effort as “incredible,” praising David’s commitment to giving back to the community.

The pie campaign has not only raised vital funds but also brought people together, highlighting the strength of Spirit of Salford. Customers rallied behind the idea, eager to support a project that directly benefits those in need.

David Hill’s gesture has been widely applauded, with many calling him a shining example of the generosity that exists within the city. It should be noted that he also supplies the food to our pensioners parties and at cost price too.

As Tony put it: “What can you say apart from wow?”

With discussions now set to take place over which groups will receive the funding, the legacy of the Salford 100 pies looks set to make a meaningful difference across the community.
