A 22-year-old man has been arrested at Manchester Airport after allegedly attempting to flee the country following a robbery in seedley.
Officers detained the suspect at around 4am today (Saturday) as he prepared to board a flight to Frankfurt. He had been wanted in connection with a business robbery on Liverpool Street on Friday (April 24).
Police say the man entered the premises shortly after 5pm, where staff were threatened and a quantity of cash was stolen. A suspected BB gun was later recovered at the scene. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Detective Sergeant Stacey Nolan, of Salford CID, said the arrest followed swift investigative work and close cooperation with Border Force.
“Following an investigation, we identified a suspect and circulated him as wanted,” she said. “We were alerted by Border Force that he was attempting to leave the country, and he was arrested by officers at the airport.
“This shows how we can work with our partners to bring offenders to justice.”
The man remains in custody for questioning on suspicion of robbery.
