A man has died following a violent early-hours assault outside a pub in Cadishead.
Emergency services were called to Liverpool Road at around 2.40am on Sunday, March 29, after reports of an altercation involving a group of men outside Dessie’s Place.
During the incident, Ben Wright suffered serious head injuries after being assaulted. He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital in a critical condition.
It was confirmed on Tuesday morning that he remained in hospital, but he was later pronounced dead the same day.
Following the incident, a police cordon was put in place around the pub while officers carried out enquiries.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that three men, all aged in their 20s, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. They have since been released on bail pending further investigation.
Tributes have since been paid to Ben, who has been described by those who knew him as a well-loved and kind-hearted man with a strong presence in the local community.
