On today’s show Tony chats to Roy Matthews the Music Man who started his career with the Brownsville Banned and the Naughty Boys and then job interview at Manchester Arena led to him working with Paul Macartney , Rolling Stones, Morrissey, Status Quo, Simon and Garfunkel, James, Live Aid and so many more artists and gigs..with tales to tell this promises to be a great show.
Also on the show is Paul Banks, the creator of Manchester Scene Stories, a YouTube and social media project documenting the clubs, DJs, musicians and characters who shaped Manchester’s music culture.
A former EFT practitioner turned interviewer, Paul has filmed over 100 in-depth conversations with the people who were there — from Northern Soul and post-punk through acid house, indie and beyond.
Drawing from those interviews and his own life in the city he calls home, he published Manchester Scene Stories – The Dance Years and Manchester Scene Stories – The Indie Years, exploring two sides of Manchester’s musical identity.
Through film and print, his work captures the voices, memories and defining moments behind one of the world’s most influential music cities.
The show starts around 2pm’ish and we broadcast live from the world famous Salford Lads (& Girls) Club every Wednesday.
