LOOKING TO THE FUTURE WITH ACADEMY CAREER’S EVENT

You’re never too young to have ambition, know where you want to go and what you want to do in the future.

With that in mind, years 7, 8 and 9 students at Irlam and Cadishead Academy welcomed a host of local businesses, companies, employers and college representatives to talk about potential career opportunities and pathways, with an informative and inspirational careers morning at the successful High School.

Local companies based in Irlam and Cadishead including Werit, Irlam Estate Agents, Tesco and the Foodbank joined local colleges including Salford Skills and Priestley College and the likes of Salford Leisure, to talk to the students about their experiences and career paths.

Veronica Fowler from the Irlam and Cadishead Food Bank talked about the advantages of working as a volunteer, learning valuable work experience and life skills, whilst Simon Jones and Chris Wilkinson from Irlam Estate Agency talked about the various opportunities available in the world of estate agencies and financial services.

Sunny Prakash and colleagues from Irlam Northbank based Company WERIT highlighted the many careers and opportunities available in the manufacturing industries and how he became Managing Director with the company.

Helen Colquitt, Director of Education with Character at the Academy said, “We had a wonderful career’s morning, and I can’t thank enough all the people that came along to talk to our young people about various career paths and opportunities.

A big thank you to Bill McLaughlin for helping with the Career event that the students all thoroughly enjoyed and embraced. This is something we are going to continue at the Academy on a regular basis. Any companies or organizations that would like to get involved with future events please get in touch.”
