Salford is set for a dramatic weather turnaround ahead of the upcoming Spring Bank Holiday weekend, with forecasters predicting a mini heatwave could bring some of the hottest temperatures of the year so far.
After a cloudy and unsettled start to the week, temperatures across Greater Manchester are expected to rise sharply from Thursday onwards as high pressure builds across the UK. By Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, parts of the region could see highs approaching 27°C to 29°C under prolonged sunny spells.
The Met Office says conditions will become “very warm over the Bank Holiday weekend with plenty of sunshine and light winds,” although there remains a chance of isolated heavy or thundery showers developing on Saturday.
Wednesday will remain relatively cool in Salford, with highs around 17°C and patchy cloud throughout the day. Thursday and Friday will feel noticeably warmer, with temperatures climbing above 20°C as clearer skies develop across the North West.

The real heat arrives over the three-day Bank Holiday weekend. Saturday is expected to bring warm sunshine and humid conditions, while Sunday could become the hottest day of the week so far. Early forecasts suggest the hot spell may continue into Bank Holiday Monday, giving Salford residents ideal conditions for barbecues, park visits and outdoor events.
Maybe take a stroll around Buile Hill Park and pop in to the wonderful Secret Garden Cafe.
National forecasters say parts of the UK could become hotter than holiday destinations including Greece and Majorca during the Bank Holiday break, with some southern areas potentially reaching 30°C. While Greater Manchester is likely to stay slightly cooler, temperatures are still expected to sit well above the seasonal average.
Meteorologists say the hot conditions are being caused by strong high pressure settling over Britain, allowing warm air and long periods of sunshine to build across England and Wales.
